The new hope for Pakistan??

Recently we have witnessed the real power of people, in the most unlikely of places. The arab countries were known to have the most brutal dictatorships and lack of freedoms. Even though they were mainly inhabitated by majority muslims, their governments were the most anti-islamic and paid by the west. They were not removed from power by the west of that reason. The west feared that if we remove these dictators our interest in the region will become compromised. It is natural that if you have a real government in the arab regions they will not be friendly towards Israel. So keeping that in mind the west ignored any human rights violations in the region and continued to prop up those governments at the cost of their own image.

But the arab spring taught everyone that in the modern world you cannot hide information anymore and you cannot stop people from organising themselves. The biggest weapon in the hands of the oppressed people is the media and social networks such as facebook and twitter. The national tv might want to show a great picture of their leader and show everything is going ok in the country. But all the people have to do is access websites and witness the true reality. So in this age lying and hypocricy don't work as it used to in the past. The same thing we are seeing now in Pakistan. People have more access to trustworthy news and balanced opinions. In the past i remember there was only PTV news and it was all about brainwashing. It seems like there is some hope in Pakistan, which is Imran Khan. He is quite a charasmatic person and has had some leadership experience, whether it be on a minor scale. Winning the world cup wasn't a simple task and yet he achieved that. Not only that, but he has established a modern cancer hospital by just collecting money from people and mobilising the masses. He didn't get any help from people and that is also another one of his great achievements.

However with such a background, some still question his motives. I was talking to someone about Imran Khan in Peshawar. He told me he married a jewish lady and that Jemima being from a billionaire family was married to him because they knew he would be able to have some influence in Pakistan in the future. So the jews are behind Imran Khan's success and that once he becomes leader then the jews will take over the policy making there. I couldn't stop laughing at such a conspiracy theory. I told him just look at his achievements and look at his honesty. Whatever he says is the right thing and I would definately prefer him over all the other politicians who keep coming in and out of leadership. They all failed miserably and Imran Khan is the person who looks to be totally different from the rest. Whether he can make a huge change to Pakistan or a small change. The direction and aims he has is one which is correct and he deserves a chance. I don't see how Pakistan can become any worse to be honest. So what do Pakistani's have to lose? If somebody talks about him being influenced by Jews. Well Zardari and everybody else is being paid by the west and he is their biggest puppet. He has proved this, yet there is no proof that Imran Khan is a Jewish puppet.

Anywayz let's see what happens, but it does look like his support is increasing by the day. It looks like the new generation in Pakistan understand that he is the only hope at the moment.

It's that time again..

You must be wondering what time is it again, well its exam time...I've only got around 40 days left till my exams start and this time it's only two subjects, Pathology and Community Medicine. Although it might sound easy, that is not the case. For the first time I am spending my exam preparation time at home in London so this is a new experience. So today I walked a few miles going to the library and coming back. It was a nice atmosphere over there so it did help me study. I just stayed there for 2 hours and got hungry, so I left. I saw this guy sitting there he kept bringing out stuff from his bag. First it was like some kind of pasta and then he brought some drink out. So that was probably one of the main reasons, which made me hungry. The other funny thing that happened while I sitting there in the library, was that one lady kept on coughing non-stop for like a few minutes. Then after she stopped some other guy was coughing. All around the place people were coughing, I felt like joining in as well...Anywayz maybe tomorrow I will go a bit earlier and take something with me to eat while I'm studying...

Today was really cold as well. I could have easily taken the bus to the library but I think that walking there is much better because that is my only chance to get exercise and I find it really important as it does reduce your tension. If you are less tense then you will be able to study more in a shorter time. Like when I am not relaxed I could sit the whole day with a book and just learn a few pages, so what is the point of calculating how many hours you study, rather you should calculate how much effective studying you have done.

After reading a topic then I have my dad always coming up to me and saying let's discuss a topic. He keeps asking me questions that what topic have you studying today so we can talk about it together. In the summer holidays he would always say that to me and I would say later. Now because of exams I can't say later and him discussing things with me does help a lot because I know where I stand and he points to me my mistakes. You also remember stuff more easily. Sometimes my dad does go on a bit too much but I guess that is because he wants to help, but I can't handle long sessions. Whether it is me studying from a book or discussing a topic. My stamina finishes after 2 hours....So i need a good break and then I am ready to start study again...

One last point on studying is that in the past I would always leave everything till the end. But that doesn't apply in studying medicine or anyother tough course. Maybe in A-level or GCSE you can get away with it, on top of that if you have good teachers and your concept was good then you can still get top marks, even though you leave study till the end or don't study much. But I found studying in Peshawar much more tougher because I don't gain much knowledge from the lecture, it goes in one ear and other of the other. I couldn't figure out what way to study or how to structure my answers to get proper marks and so on. But now I have matured a bit and have figured out how this system works. Studying a bit throughout the year makes the load less when it comes to exam preparation time. So always do little study throughout the year rather than cramming it all in the end. And never discuss with friends what book they study from or how many hours they are doing or what is their mood. Just discuss things you don't understand and do your own style of study and not what others tell you. Taking tips and good advice obviously is beneficial but most of the times people give advice which don't apply to you and maybe suits them more. I remember in one subject people said to study from a certain book. But when i tried studyin from it, i found it impossible to get anything from it. So I went for the book I could study!

Getting ready to go once again

So its that time again. The usual tension of thinking you have forgotten something and whether you are over weight or not. What to take with you and what to leave, this is the annoying thing about travelling especially by yourself. You have so many things to think about and it does get really tiring. Inshallah I will be heading to the airport in around 12 hours and I will get some good sleep before my flight. It is really good to have an afternoon flight because once I had a morning flight and it was terrible. I didn't get much sleep and it was really bad especially when its a 7 hour journey and then a 3 hour journey after that. I forgot to say where I am going, well I am going to Peshawar. I guess most of you have heard about this place and yes I study there. I have my 4th year exams coming up in a few months inshallah. But the good thing is that its only two subjects, which is much less stressful than the 3rd year exams. But many people then underestimate this year and think it will be really easy and then take it too lightly. I will make sure I do not do the same mistake because I don't wanna go through the whole process of failing and then having to retake after 2 or 3 months. That would be a disaster and would kinda affect your final year a bit as you have all the clinical subjects in that one year.

It is nice that I'm hearing there has been quite a lot of rain in Peshawar. I remember back in june it was baking hot like around 45 degrees or 46 degrees on a daily basis. Now its more like 34 degrees so that is a plus point and something to look forward to. I am slowly becoming more used to the life in Peshawar as compared to my first year. I am more mature and I have set out a clear plan for what I should be doing study wise and how I use my time. I have lost quite a lot of weight since January and I plan to keep it up. I wanna join the local football club so that I can stay fit and also it would be a good way to pass time in a Peshawar which doesn't have much outdoor activities as compared to London. If you do not have a positive attitude in that place, you can dig yourself a huge hole and fall into depression. I need to stay away from negativity such as those who gossip all day, backbite and have jealousy. It's a really competitive society over there and everybody cares about what everyone else does. They waste their whole energy on that, how sad. So thats the way to prepare for that world, which is way different than the world we live in London or the West. If you aren't prepared you can fall into a lot of traps, which is what I encountered in my first few years there. Now I am out of that gladly and now I should be focused on my studies, which is what I went there for.....

I will miss my family and London for sure but I will not make myself sad as I going there to achieve something, which is inshallah getting a degree and becoming a Doctor. Time goes by so quickly, I don't even know how all those years went...

Hayatabad Pashto Rangeen Film

When I was in Peshawar I was showing some videos that I made about the kids who live on the street and the chawkidars. I told them the whole world can see it from youtube and when I told them they said take a video of us acting and show it on youtube...So they were waiting for a long time and kept askin me when have I uploaded it...so anywayz I uploaded it yesterday and the way they are acting there was no preparation, its just they did it all from the top of their head, so it wasn't a bad attempt

Independence Day

So we had Pakistan independence day go by on 14th August and now Afghanistan independence day which is on 19th August. I really do not understand the purpose behind these celebrations. Like firstly let us learn what does Independence mean. It basically means to be free from any outside interference and being able to rule to country according to how the people want it to be run.

In the past nations were part of a colony and therefore all matters would be dealt with by the colonising power. Therefore those nations were not independent. But in the modern era we see that Pakistan and Afghanistan are not in fact independent.

What is the other part of independence day? Celebrations of course. Now what is their to celebrate again in these two nations? Everyday we hear of killings in Karachi, by the dozens. Nobody in the country is able to stop this or even bother to try and apprehend the criminals who are responsible for this. Everyday many people are dying. Poverty is on the increase and their a real lack of development. There is high corruption and the list is endless. How can somebody who is a citizen of Pakistan celebrate while having all of this happening in the background. Yes we should continue our lives, just live when a close passes away you continue your life. But the nation has regressed rather than progressed and still you celebrate this? Isn't that ironic....

In Afghanistan there is even more less to celebrate due to the presence of foreign soldiers and deaths by the hundreds. Then if we look at the poverty it is even more depressing if we were to look at the figures. The country might have progressed in terms of making the rich richer and the corrupt people into business tycoons. But the average Afghan has not gained anything. In Kabul I saw on the tv the other day people are still walking a long way to get just drinking water. If we list all the negatives it clearly outweights the positive which is going on in both these countries. Yet we still find a way to celebrate. Some may say we should be optimistic but I saw we should be realistic and also compassionate. Imagine a poor person dying in front of you and you make a concert in front of him where people are enjoying themselves, but he is starving at the same time. Nobody is there to feed him, but they are ready to celebrate and claim that we love our NATION. That is the biggest fraud. Love of something is not measured by how many gifts you give or by how many flags you wear or colouring your face and shouting out. It is measured by your actions.

Did you feed the poor? Did you help those who are suffering? Did you bother to tell people where is the country going? Or you just say I love my country and that is going to help matters go forward.

This reminds me of Milad Un-Nabi. It is a celebration of the Prophet (saw) birthday. In Muslim countries you would see lights around houses and people lighting fireworks. Is this ISLAM? Or is this copying others? Do you think to show your love of the Prophet (Saw) you need to celebrate his birthday in such a manner. I am sure that if we didn't celebrate his birthday but instead followed his SUNNAH and footsteps, maybe we wont go to hell. We will maybe closer to getting into paradise because the Sunnah is indeed more important than a birthday. We get our priorities wrong! We take rituals to be more important than the core of the beliefs. Love Muhammad (Saw) by following him, love your land by protecting it and honouring by what Allah has told you to do in HIS land.

If you are a good muslim following what Islam tells you, the land will prosper and so will everything else. It doesn't matter if you don't celebrate these occasions. Let us look at our actions and instead maybe will find a reason as to why our people are in such a position that they are today. We should be asking for forgiveness and seeking protection from the punishment of Allah, because we have left what he wanted us to follow in order to be prosperus in this world and the next. It is not a moment of celebration for muslims but a time for comtemplation. There isn't any good news coming out of any muslim nation at the moment....

What to make of the London Riots

As we all heard and saw was truly something out of the blue. Nobody has seen riots of the kind in London, where people went on a rampage burning down shops and looting. It kinda reminded me of the scenes from Iraq when Americans toppled the regime, everybody went on a looting spree. But obviously you cannot compare the two, but it seems like at the lower level of society there is a similar desperation. We may not see it on a day to day basis, but the poverty in London/United Kingdom is quite bad. Even with benefits people are struggling to get through the day. The youth who were involved in the riots mostly come from broken families, where they don't have any father figure in the house. These council estates are really bad for young kids as all kinds of things happen there. You have drug dealers hanging around, you have bad influence all around and the kids can easily get sucked into that bad company and be affected. The single mothers wouldn't be able to make much of a difference as they wont be able to control their kids. This leads to hopelessness on the part of the kids and they dont really have an aim in life. They just hang around on the streets looking for something to do. So it doesn't come as a suprise to be honest that the society of United Kingdom is crumbling. We would talk about 3rd world countries and think how on Earth people over there could carry out disgusting acts, but now it has come to the western developed world also. With inflation and economic problems they are also facing extreme challenges.

Out of all of this what I can say is that British soldiers are out there in foreign lands trying to change nations, which cannot be changed. They lose their soldiers on a daily basis and waste millions of Pounds. Imagine if they didn't spend that money on war and rather spent it on their people. They wouldn't be having any problem. One English guy was saying they should bring back those troops and they could look after the country, it would make the place more safer! One other point to note is that muslims were not involved in these riots. For so long, muslims were the targets. Everytime muslims would be labelled as not integrating in society and creating problems for the nation. There were debates on the Burka and all kinds of issues. But they failed to tackle the real problems. Their youth are living lives which don't seem to be getting them anywhere, except ending up in carrying out crimes as an occupation or a hobby. Those youths are more of an issue than whether a woman wears a Burka or not. How much money was lost in these riots? Yes we should understand the reason why it happened, the same way we should understand what makes people carry out violent attacks around the world. Everything happens as a reaction or reason. So no matter how bad the acts are you have to understand it so that it don't happen again. Cure is better than prevention. If you can cure easily, why worry about wasting enery and resources on prevention??

A great speech about Day of Judgement

I can't stop listening to this lecture and watching this video...It is really thought provoking and is such a powerful message. It makes you realise that life is temporary. We always need a reminder that we all have to die one day. It is so obvious even the non-muslims and every human knows they will die one day. But it is not thought upon, that what will happen once we die?? Nobody ever truly wants to ponder on this. But once they do, they will realise that it is really not known. By not known I mean in general the human beings, really cannot comprehend what will happen to them after death. Some may wish to joke about it and some may think that after death there is nothing. But this is just an attempt to brush asides one's purpose in life. We do have a purpose and if you think about it deeply there MUST be a purpose in life. It all comes back to the basic belief of a Creator. There are signs of the Creator and there are even signs of Day of Judgement. This universe does have an end point and this is even mentioned in Science. Anywayz just listen to this speech. It is only 4 minutes, but the actual lecture is 53 minutes long. You can decide to watch them both.....

Here is the 4 minute clip:

The state of Hospitals in Pukhtunkhwa

There are like two major hospitals in Peshawar, Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). As I am in my 4th year, we spend like 3 hours in KTH going to different wards every week and learning new things from the Doctors. Recently we had to go to the Orthopaedic ward, which was so congested. It was unbelievable, usually people with broken legs and broken arms come to this ward. Yet there was no sitting place for them. They would be held by someone else and waiting outside for their turn. It must be quite painful for the patients. I took a picture so you can just try to understand what it is like. I think the hospital administration have totally neglected this ward. Like at least people should have a place to sit....

The medical wards are not as bad. Then when you would go inside one of the rooms on the left, there would be an Orthopaedic specialist surrounded by 5 Junior Doctors who don't have a clue about Orthopaedics. They were as clueless as we were. Patients would fill the room and the Junior Doctors would just ask silly questions and just waste time doing the wrong things. It was just pure chaos. If you complain about these things people will just tell you, that you should be grateful we even have a hospital. No doubt the Doctors are facing difficult with low funds. But at least there are things you can do which does not require money. Changing your attitude requires no money. They say if your educated people are having these bad qualities, what do you expect from the illiterate people. I have seen that illiteracy is a major problem but then at the same time as a Doctor you have principles. If an illiterate person comes to a hospital in England, no matter how much he annoys the Doctor he will have to comfort him and he will definately not be allowed to get angry or abuse the patient. It is quite common in the hospitals in Peshawar to see a Doctor shouting at his patients and even swearing at them.

I have to say there are however quite a few Doctors who go out their way to help the needy and do extra work although getting no extra pay. With the lack of resources they have done a great job and service to the people. It would be great to see these kind of Doctors in every ward and every hospital, then we would see a revolutionary change in the health system despite under funding from the government.

Tour of Peshawar

It is very difficult to explain in words what Peshawar is like, in terms of how it looks....So I took a video starting from Hayatabad till near Saddar.

A glimpse into the life of a Kabari Wala

I have spent some time making this video about a Kabari Wala. For those who do not know what this is, well Kabar means junk or unwanted goods. In Peshawar usually poor people who are Afghan refugees shout for Kabar and they get unwanted goods from houses. Usually they collect broken goods or tins or toys or anything they can later sell. They then go and sell it for small amounts. This person who I made a video about does this kind of job in order to feed his family. He has goats as well so he goes to empty plots in Peshawar where weed and plants have grown. He cuts it and takes it with him so that he can feed his goats.

I came across this guy in front of our house while he was cutting some plants. I decided I will take a video of him because he seemed very friendly and funny. I wanted to show what he goes through and also to show how tough these people are. No matter what hardships they are going through he looked very positive and at the same time happy. This video doesn't show his life in great detail but it was just a glimpse. I took the time to put subtitles as well so other people can understand as well....So check it out...

Summer holidays

I am back home in London, away from the 45 plus degrees of Peshawar, away from the load shedding which would sometimes mean only 12 hours of electricity in a day and so I am able to recharge my batteries. I passed my 3rd year of MBBS which was a big relief as the 3 subjects (Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and General Pathology) I passed were really big and quite complex. Now I have to make use of my summer holidays and prepare for my 4th year exams which would be inshallah in January. Only two subjects this time round, which are Special Pathology and Community Medicine. But in 4th year you have to also study clinical medicine to make your Final Year much more easier.

Anywayz I am going to write about my time in Peshawar and what I was getting upto later on.

Mubarak (congrats) to Egyptians, Mubarak is no more....

The Egyptians have given a great example to the Muslim world especially, after Tunisia of course. But I was really impressed with the Egyptian revolution, it was so peaceful and organised. If Mubarak cared about his nation and people, it would have been the most peaceful revolution ever without even a single drop of blood. Because these protestors didn't want to cause any harm to anyone. I saw a video showing the protestors washing the square with hose pipes and wipers. People volunteering to clear up the rubbish and this is basically what our religion Islam tells us to do. We have to care for everything and not be oppressors or cause harm to anything. It was a shame that the government used their brutal police and then some thugs they hired to cause chaos. Alhamdulilah that did not stop the protestors and they struggled hard. Those few hundred who died, their sacrifices will not be in vain.

The main reason for the dictators being in power, was to stabilise the region (i.e protect Israel). So everybody was happy pumping in billions of dollars to this regime and other regimes. Even though they were extremely brutal and contradicted what western rules stand for. They were the complete opposite to democracy and yet they enjoyed support. But people by themselves and without foreign armies or intervention had enough. It shows when people change, the nation can change!!!

People are more stronger than any army and if they are guided on the right path can bring the best change.

Life is how you want it to be....

Sitting in my bedroom and looking outside the window I see rain and dull clouds, along with the constant sound of cars passing by every few seconds. On the face of it, it seems quite depressing. But if you truly think about it everything happens for a reason and that if you think negatively then everything looks dull.

I know the importance of rain when I spend months in Peshawar and it never rains. The land becomes barren and the air becomes polluted. People pray and ask when is the rain going to come. But then we saw what happened in Pakistan when it rained TOO much. So this is another sign that balance is the key to life. You should never go to an extreme but stay in the middle. In UK many people complain about the dull weather and wish for hot weather and blue skies. So when will human beings ever be content with anything?

This life is quite short and if we spend it thinking negatively, wondering about why this happened to us and why that happened to us. We would just waste our lives and never achieve anything. There are many examples of human beings who came from nowhere into being something special. This was due to their positive thinking and of course Allah who blesses people. But like the saying goes (maybe it is a hadith)...

Tie the camel first, then trust Allah....

What this means is quite obvious that you cannot be careless and then pray to Allah to help you. You cannot sit in your room not studying and pray to Allah please pass me in exams. This is not the way things work. You cannot sit like a couch potato and expect to be healthy miraculously. Everything requires hard work and that is part of being a devout muslim, in that this life you must also work towards good and not just say I am going to die and what is the point. This is the mind of a depressed person and a negative person...

Sometimes I might become bogged down with negative thoughts and life seems so difficult and you wish that you just give up everything. But then you think that if you give up everything where would the feeling of delight come from? The delight of when you struggle hard and then you see the fruits of your struggle. That feeling cannot be attained by doing nothing. Those who do nothing will never get that feeling...We fast in Ramadan and then when time comes to break the fast just a little bit of water or food becomes so dear to us. When we are not fasting we do not see the blessing of water and do not think much of it while drinking it.

This brings me to another point. You only understand the importance of something when you lose it. The other day I saw on the news a policeman who had become blind by a murderer who shot him. I was thinking look at this, one day he woke up and he could see everything and the next he cannot see anything. How would that person feel, how would any one of us feel?? But even though he is blin, he is still alive...Just like some people who go into coma after severe accidents, but then are taken out of coma only able to move a few parts of their body and not able to speak properly...but still they are happy to be alive.

No matter how much problems you have in your life, count your blessing and try doing something positive in order to make things better. Then ask Allah to help you!

Lauren Booth conversion to Islam

If many of you do not know who Lauren Booth is, well she is the sister-in-law of Tony Blair. She is a journalist and has written for the Daily Mail newspaper..She has two children

In October 23, 2010 she converted to Islam live on Islam Channel during an event called the Global Peace and Unity event, which is held every year in London.

When these new converts speak about their conversion to Islam it really touches your heart and makes you realise that we are born Muslims and yet we do not have as much love and respect for our faith. Isn't that quite shameful? She is newly converted and talks about her hate for alcohol and automatically she feels like alcohol doesn't seem right. She has started wearing the scarf herself and without anybody telling her to, from her own choice. I was listening to her interview and she also said that when she told her children that she is going to convert to Islam. They went and made an interview for her. They asked her a few questions, which were.....

1) Will you drink alcohol?? She said I will never drink alcohol...the kids said yeaaa in hapiness
2) Will you smoke? She said I am thinking of quitting smoking....again kids were pleased
3) Will you wear low cut dresses or tops? She said do you think Muslims would. Then her kids told her well you have been and we didn't like it. Then they said we love Islam. And her 7 year old daughter wakes up at 6am and prays.

As most people claim Islam is oppressive towards women and do not give women their rights. Women still converting to Islam is a clear sign that this is not the case and why would anyone want to give up their free life, able to dress how they want, drink what they want and have no rules put on them...and instead accept Islam which has rules and you are submitting to the will of Allah rather than the will of your desires!

If you wanna know more about her conversion watch it on youtube....

A new cult in the UK....

First you have to watch this video showing the leader of a group called English Defence league arguing his case. Then read what I have to say about them. It is quite funny this video.....lol

He says we are not against Muslims but we are against Islam. Is this guy serious? He seems like an extremely ignorant person. There is a sikh person in this EDL (English Defence League) and they claim we are not against the Sikhs, Hindus or any other groups. Why? He says this is because crime is coming from Islamic community and our sisters are being raped by Islamic community. That is absolute rubbish as well, because white people commit many crimes. This group is just basically a bunch of football hooligans who are drunk on alcohol. Their lives are not very prosperous, but they just want to find somebody to blame. Who do they find? MUSLIMS. Just hate on the Muslims. He doesn't realise that if there is any Muslim criminal in the UK or any fraudster from Muslim community, they are acting against Islam. Islam preaches against all these things.

The EDL have planned a protest on Saturday in Luton. It will be quite interesting to see if many people turn up or not. But this group is just based on pure hate toward just Muslims. It is very easy to reject every single point the leader of EDL is saying. But I am sure they are not ready to listen because as usual arrogance gets people nowhere.

Watching the chaos in Egypt

I've been closely watching the news lately, especially since the uprising in Egypt. It was really amazing to watch so many people come to the streets and finally speak out against a dictator like Mubarak. He has been in power for 30 years and nobody has challenged him, even though he was basically taking the country down the gutter. I was listening to some analysis by Glenn Beck the guy who is famous for quite a lot of controversy. But he put it quite nicely, when he said that people hate America not because they have freedom and that they are non-Muslims. But they hate them because they are in bed with the dictators that run the Muslim countries. That is shows hypocrisy that on the one hand the west stands up for justice and human rights, then on the other they support cruel tyrants who torture and persecute their people. It doesn't make sense does it.

The people of Egypt seem like they have had enough and it is suprising that it has been peaceful protests and quite civilised. Before the pro-Mubarak protests started, everything was quite orderly and even they were showing ordinary civilians washing tahrir square and people cleaning up the place. It is quite a shame that everything was turned upside down since yesterday with the introduction of some thugs and mobs who have been hired by the government. They are desperate to see some kind of reversal in favour of Mubarak, but it seems quite unlikely. His days are numbered and tomorrow is the day, which will show which way this movement for democracy will go.

It just shows the power of the people, that they are the ones who can change their destiny. A quote from the Quran which we hear quite often is really strong that an Ummah will not change unless it's people change. What does that mean??? It means that if the people in a nation are not willing to want change, then their nation will not change. But if people are willing to sacrifice and to stand up against evil in their nation, then their nation will rise and become a nation of good. We see in every Muslim nation some kind of leadership problem. In some we see elections even being held, yet there is no change in sight. This is partly due to the ignorance of the people who think that change will be easy. Change just means a face change or shuffling of the decks. It requires a complete change of system, to root out corruption, to root out injustice and to put in place a true system which is in the interest of the people and nation. A system which is fair and doesn't allow some kind of dynasty. They shouldn't expect change to come from outside but from within. People of a nation are worth more than foreign aid or foreign support. Your people are the ones who hold the power and we can see that is the reason why no matter if you get a million man army to change a nation, it will fail if people are not siding with them. The same way a million man army in decades with trillion dollars cannot topple a regime or group, yet when the people rise they can topple the government within weeks with less expense and bloodshed.

I find it amazing that everybody can see how Ben Ali fled his country, how Shah of Iran fled his country and how Saddam met his fate.....yet Husni Mubarak and others still don't take any lesson from this. Don't they think one day they will be asked in their grave of how they used their rule and leadership? They remind me of the story of Pharoah, where arrogance stopped him from accepting the truth.

Feeling sick again....

Recently during exam times I fell sick with the usual sore throat, muscle ache and fever. Once again I am going through the same thing in London. I gained quite a lot of weight during my preparations for exams and I started doing exercise straight away when I got home. I think maybe because I started all of a sudden with heavy exercise, so maybe that is the reason I have fallen sick again.

Anywayz so I decided while lying down in bed to make a short 2 minute video and it seems quite funny. I had videos of our old driver who was a pure comedian and one day he was being annoyed by the neighbours who are very naughty. If you watched my last video Peshawar news, its the same kids that were fighting eachother....Well they couldn't stop annoying this grown man and I made a video about it..

Check it out...

A video showing three things that happened while I was in Peshawar

I am back in London

After nearly 4 months I am back in London. My time in Peshawar was really tough as I was preparing for my 3rd year MBBS exam. As soon as I got there, I had no time to waste. I had like tests in the first few months (you could say mock exams) and in one week I had to prepare for a Pharmacology test, then in the next 2 weeks for a pathology test and the next 2 weeks for a forensic test. After that it we had 40 days to prepare for the annual exam which was starting on the 28th of December and then it ended on the 11th of January.

It included a 3 hour paper on different days, in each of the main subjects (Pathology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine). After that we had a separate viva and practical for each subject also. So when the exams finished it was a huge relief because it was non-stop studying and without any break in sight. If I had not come back to London and stayed there I would have been in a bad situation. In Peshawar there isn't much to do when it comes to relaxation, maybe you can say Islamabad is a nice place to recharge your batteries but because I have nobody living there its really difficult to stay there by yourself. So there is nothing better then coming back home to your family and just relaxing, without touching any medical books for a few weeks.

Our 4th year classes will be starting in a few weeks and maybe by that time our results will be out. I will be dreading that day because if you haven't passed in a subject you will have 40 days after results day to prepare for it again. So you will be going through the same process again, which is agonising.

A bit about my journey from Peshawar.....I came in Qatar airways, which was a flight at 4:30am in the morning so I didn't sleep at all at that point. In front of me were two children who cried non-stop all the way to Doha, I was going crazy from the lack of sleep and from the uncontrollable children. As we landed in Doha I had a 5 hours stay, which was sooo boring. Luckily they had free wi-fi and I charged my laptop, played some games and was just surfing. We got on the plane and the pilot made an announcement that due to technical problems we will have to wait for 20 minutes. That 20 minutes then became an hour and I knew the problem couldn't be fixed....that became true when the pilot said basically get off the plane. We had to get back into a bus and go through security check again. We had to wait another 5 hours and the only thing they could offer was free lunch, which included a few spoons of rice and mutton korma with pepsi.

During the flight back to Heathrow there was severe turbulence over Hungary. The plane felt like you were on a roller coaster ride and some woman was getting scared and kind of shouting a bit loudly. She was saying what is happening, I knew turbulence is not a dangerous thing but the woman started to scare me a bit and I thought maybe something wrong is going on. But luckily after 5-10 minutes things settled down.

I was so relieved to have reached home safely.....
